Senior Land Development Engineer

Job Duties 

Prepare site and subdivision plans for residential, commercial and industrial projects in Anne Arundel County, the City of Annapolis, and the Maryland Eastern Shore, to include storm water management, storm sewer plans and profiles, outfall analysis, sanitary sewer plans and profiles, water line plans and profiles, water network analysis, public street design, erosion and sediment control plans, fire lane plans, pavement designs, pavement striping and signage plans, maintenance of traffic plans, bond estimates and bond reductions. Oversee and mentor Junior Engineers. Assist clients with bonding and permitting procedures.  Assist other company departments in the preparation of re-zonings, infill lot grading plans and preliminary plats.  Interact with County staff, clients, & members of the public. Possible attendance at night meetings.  Involvement with industry related associations/organizations will be encouraged.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in Maryland  land development engineering

  • PE license preferred but not required.

  • Above average written and oral communication skills

  • Project organizational and time management skills

  • Knowledgeable with AutoCAD Civil 3D

Senior Drafting Technician

Job Duties

Charles P. Johnson and Associates is seeking a Full-Time tech savvy Senior Drafting Technician to join our Annapolis Office! This position will require the use of Autodesk Civil 3D and utilizing National Cad Standards (NCS) and existing company standards and templates to create base sheets and work with our Engineers, Planners, and Designers to assist them in creating finalized Civil Engineering drawings. The ideal candidate should have a thorough knowledge of Civil 3D and an understanding of Land Development and Civil Engineering plans.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate will be responsible for taking rough designs from Engineers, Planners and Designers and complete the drafting requirements.

  • Must be able to coordinate with Engineers, Planners and Designers for the drafting requirements of the plans.

  • Candidate will use NCS CAD standards (or equivalent company standards), Civil 3D tools and techniques.

  • Candidate will use advanced Civil 3D tools such as surfaces, labeling, corridors, alignments and profiles, points, pipe networks to complete the drafting requirements.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience using AutoCAD 2018 or later.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience using Civil 3D 2018 or later.

  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam or Adobe.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products.

  • Ideal candidate will have 3+ years working in the Land Development and/or Civil Engineering industry.

  • Ideal candidate will be able to read Civil Engineering plans and understand grading and contours.

This is not an entry level position. The ideal candidate will already have some office and field surveying experience and will prepare boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys surveys under the responsible charge of a licensed Professional land surveyor.

  • will prepare other special survey deliverables as needed.

  • will prepare descriptions of properties based on boundary survey efforts.

  • will perform various research efforts for deeds, plats, and property information such as Finder Online or Merlin.

  • will perform various research efforts of County and State databases for Geospatial data and plans.

  • will be required to work outside as needed to support all of our survey data collection efforts.

  • will be energetic, eager to learn, and able to work independently with direction.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Must be proficient with Autodesk Civil 3D with 2+ years of experience as well as a working knowledge the Microsoft Office programs. 

  • Should have the ability to review and process field data, including least squares traverse adjustment and importing points into CAD. 

  • Should have exposure with field to finish data collection coding.

  • Should have exposure using networked desktop computer systems.

  • Must have good math and communication skills.

3D Data Capture Survey Technician

Charles P. Johnson & Associates seeks qualified individuals to fill the full-time position of 3D Data Capture Survey Technician. This position will involve collecting bathymetric data either from a boat or from the shore using a hydrone, collecting ground-based scan data using Trimble SX-10 and TX-6 and mobile scanning with the MX-9, and collecting data on projects with UAV’s.

Responsibilities 

The ideal candidate will already have some conventional field surveying experience, will have worked with GPS and VRS networks; will have experience with boat operations on the water and trailering a boat; will have performed bathymetric surveys; will have experience with FAA part 107 and UAV operations, is experienced with using laptop and networked computers including Wi-Fi networks and wireless interfacing systems; be able to work independently with direction.

This position will require you to work with and learn from an experienced data capture specialist and Trimble Certified Trainer, be energetic and eager to learn, able to work long hours as needed, and be able to travel for jobs as needed in the mid-Atlantic region.

Required Skills and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record and a vehicle

  • Some Field survey experience

  • FAA Part 107 license is preferred but not required.

  • Proficient computer skills with MS software (Windows, Explorer, Excel, Outlook) experience with Trimble Business Center is a plus

Required Skills and Experience

Responsibilities

  • Finding and qualifying RFPs, RFQ, etc. along with planning, scheduling, and coordinating the production of proposals, presentations, and statements of qualification.

  • You will be involved with competitive proposals and presentations for municipal, state, and federal government agencies.

  • The ideal candidate has experience in preparing proposal, writing and developing proposal documents, assisting with gathering and organizing sub-consultant information, conducting and coordinating meetings and other related proposal development and marketing-related activities.

  • In addition to proposal preparation, this position will be responsible for attending networking events and conferences representing the firm outside of normal duty hours to include occasional weekends.

  • The position will also be responsible for all marketing materials, including but not limited branded giveaways, branded apparel, and corporate gifts.

  • Ideally the candidate will be able to create graphics for booths, banners, other booth presentation materials and brochures.

  • The ideal candidate will also be responsible for the preparation and coordination of company-wide marketing conferences and events.

  • Has personal vehicle and is able to travel for business conferences and trade shows. Travel is 10% or less of regular duty hours.

  • Able to work outside normal duty hours for conferences, trade shows and networking events.


Required Skills and Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience with RFP's and RFQ's, including but not limited to gathering information for, preparing proposals, writing an preparing proposal documents etc., along with planning, scheduling, and coordinating the production of proposals, presentations, and statements of qualification. 

  • Team Player accustomed to working in a team environment with a wide range of technical professionals

  • Must be self-motivated to work and learn independently

  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-tasking on simultaneous hard deadlines

  • Ability to articulate proposal outline while conducting proposal meetings and driving schedules

  • Strong grammar/writing and proofreading skills, formatting, and production skills.
